driving around lake coeur d'alene

Winter is almost here and while we’re sad to see boating season end, we’re excited for all to come! Many people think of Coeur d’Alene as a summer town but there are actually tons of things to do here during winter.

Want to know how to enjoy winter on Lake CDA this year? Keep reading below!

CDA Winter Activity Ideas

There are plenty of things to do in Coeur d’Alene this snowy season. While we can’t jump on a boat and enjoy the water, we can do other things including:

Take a cruise

Lake CDA Cruises is located next to the resort and offers plenty of daily and seasonal tours on the lake and surrounding rivers. Want to sip on some hot cocoa and enjoy the scenery? Try a daily cruise! Hoping to catch a bald eagle swooping over the water? Look into the eagle watching tours. Thinking of holding a private event? Consider a charter cruise. There really are endless options of fun on the water.

Go sight-seeing

Interested in sight-seeing but not wanting to go out on the water? No problem! With Tubbs Hill located right in the middle of downtown, you and your family will be able to enjoy a scenic hike right along the lake. You can also go down to Higgens Point for some beautiful eagle watching, or up the Centennial Trail along the river. The views will be breathtaking no matter where you look!

Try snowmobiling

An Inland Northwest favorite, snowmobiling is the perfect way to enjoy winter in Coeur d’Alene. Plan a day with family to go up on Fernan and ride your snowmobiles along miles of trails. You’ll see gorgeous views of the lakes in the area, as well as tons of wildlife. Just make sure to be careful, as snowmobiling can be dangerous if you leave marked trails. Always ride responsibly and let someone know where you’re going as a backup.

Enjoy the events

Did you know that there are many holiday events in downtown Coeur d’Alene during the winter? Not only do we have the Lighting Ceremony and parade, but we also offer the Festival of Trees, Hot Winter Nights, New Years Celebrations, the Mac & Cheese Festival, and more. Whatever you’re looking to do in town, there is bound to be something fit for the whole family!
