The Best Activities on Lake Coeur d’Alene

Surf charter people relaxing on the boat

So you’re planning a trip to Lake Coeur d’Alene this summer but you’re not sure what to do when you get here? No problem! Below, we’ll go over some of the best things to do in Coeur d’Alene this summer.

Cruising Lake Coeur d’Alene

A very popular activity on Lake Coeur d’Alene is taking a cruise with CDA Cruises. There are many options to choose from including daily scenic and dinner cruises, speciality cruises like our Bands on Boats, and many more. Whatever you’re looking for, there is a cruise option for you and your family to enjoy.

Tubing with family and friends

Are you looking for something thrilling to do on the lake? Then tubing may be the best activity for your family and friends. Rent a boat for the day at Resort Boat Rentals and then head out for an adventure. Lake Coeur d’Alene spans over 20 miles long and can reach 1-3 miles wide in certain areas. This means that your family and friends can safely seek the thrills of tubing without worrying about much traffic. Have all the fun you want, you have our permission!

Finding swimming holes

After tubing, you may want to find a quiet place to take a dip and enjoy a picnic lunch. If so, Lake Coeur d’Alene is the perfect place! All along the shore are beaches that offer public areas to rest and replenish. For example, Higgens Point is a local favorite and it’s dog friendly. Located in the northwestern part of the lake, it’s in a quiet corner that offers little traffic and a whole lot of fun!

Visit the restaurants

After spending the day soaking up some sun, enjoy dinner at one of our many delectable restaurants. Our top three favorites are below:

Dockside

The Coeur d’Alene Resort is home to one of the best restaurants in town, Dockside. Stop by, enjoy their delicious food (and one of their legendary gooeys!) with incredible views of the lake.

Cedars Floating Restaurant

Yes, you read that right! Cedar’s Floating Restaurant is the only floating restaurant in the region and is located at the mouth of the Spokane River. Enjoy their fresh seafood and steak during sunset – it’s a sight to behold!

Tito’s Italian Grill

Located in downtown Coeur d’Alene, Tito’s offers authentic italian food that is sure to fill your empty bellies after a long day on the lake. They even have a make-your-own-pizza option for the kids!

Catching a sunset

Want to take in some evening views? After dinner with the family, make sure to stroll the docks at the Coeur d’Alene Resort or through McEuen Park with your camera. You’re sure to catch a beautiful sunset for your scrapbook.
