Where to go, a scenic paddle board adventure around Tubbs Hill

Tubbs Hill Paddle Boarding Adventure

Renting a standup paddle board can be a fun experience for the whole family. Not only is it a total body work out, but it’s also a great way to see all that Lake Coeur d’Alene has to offer. Standup paddle boarding, or SUP, has become one of the most popular summer pastimes in recent years. Paddle board rentals are abundant and easy to learn how to use. From the Coeur d’Alene Resort in downtown Coeur d’Alene, paddlers can take off to explore all that the North Idaho lake has to offer. New to the area? Here’s our suggestion for a scenic adventure around the local public park, Tubbs Hill. This hill has several miles of hiking trails that circumnavigate the park, leading to hidden beaches and great view-points. It’s a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike, and you’ll soon see why.

TO START:
Visit the Boardwalk Marina to rent a paddle board or launch your own. Tubbs Hill is just a few yards away.

CROSS THE CHANEL:
Stay alert as you cross the channel to get closer to Tubbs Hill. This is an active area for motorboats and sailboats, so use caution.

EXPLORE TUBBS:
After you get close to Tubbs Hill, just keep the hill on your left. Paddle along the shoreline, waving to hikers and swimmers alike! If you get tired or fancy a swim, pull your board up on one of the hill’s many beaches. If one looks a little crowded, just paddle a little further — Tubbs is littered with fun beaches, some of which can only be accessed from the water. Pack a snack and some water, reapply sunscreen or just give your arms a break while you take a dip in the beautiful, clean water!

RETURNING:
To get back to the Boardwalk Marina, just return the way you came, this time, keeping Tubbs Hill on your right-hand side. After you return your rental, reward yourself with a snack or an ice cold drink at the Side Tie Cafe.

Standup paddle boards are popular, so make sure you reserve your rental ahead of time to ensure you get the most out of your time on the water!
